Velveeta Shells and Cheese with Bacon
If you’re a cheese freak like me, you noticed the change in Velveeta Shells and Cheese 3-4 years ago. It was enough of a change that I stopped eating it. It was a sad time.
After a while, I really started craving it, so I decided to try some things out. I bought a box ‘with bacon’ to try out. I figured maybe the bacon would distract me enough from the flavor….just enough to satisfy me.
What I found was that the cheese used in this variety, is much closer to the original velveeta flavor. So close that, I buy it on a regular basis.
So that’s just a little tip for those of you who also miss the old Velveeta flavor.
I’m not sure how flavors differ just in different packaging types, but I think you’ve all experienced that once or twice.

Whaddya mean they don’t taste the same? Granted I haven’t bought a box in a few months but they haven’t changed in taste that I have ever recalled or maybe I was lucky enough to skip that whole period?
Blue, they changed the way it was made 3-4 years back, and like I said, if you’re not a cheese nut like me, you probably didn’t even notice, but I, and many others noticed the change and it was changed to a point where I don’t even like it anymore. The version packaged with bacon is much closer to the original flavor, and thus actually enjoyable to me.
Oh no, don’t get me wrong, I dearly love cheese and can sit and eat a slab of a Velvetta block like theres nobodies business but I can’t ever recall the cheese not tasting good in the shells. Of course eating some of that now would totally trash my diet unless I managed it really well lol You oughtta get the Velveeta thick slices and make some grilled cheese with it, yummy.
Blue I’m strictly talking about the packaged cheese that comes in a box of Velveeta Shells and Cheese. We looked it up forever ago when we all first noticed and it had, in fact, changed. I wish I could find that info again, but it’s been a few years.
