I’ve got a little Remember Wednesday blockage so I think I’m gonna put it on hold for a few weeks and spend some time with my music collection to dig up some good memories!

Divinyls–I Touch Myself
Before your mind wanders, I’ll clear that up for you. Hearing this song always makes me think of Buffy! Someone made a great Pop-up video of Buffy/Spike to the song and ever since, I’ve equated it with the show.
There’s not a ton I can say about Buffy that I haven’t said in the three times I’ve watched the show (not counting reruns and such). But really, who can resist getting caught up in a forbidden love story between a girl and a vampire? Look no further than the previous post for my current reading obsession

This week I bring you Champagne Supernova by Oasis. Of course, most people think of Wonderwall when it comes to Oasis, but Champagne Supernova was the first song I ever remember staying up to wait for the music video every night. As Kat pointed out last week, you may remember that MTV used to actually play music videos, at this point, they were down to shows for videos and after a certain time of night, they’d play videos all night.
I had a television in my room (only because my brothers had one too) and I remember lying with my head at the foot of the bed with the tv on mute–on older tv’s, mute just meant really, really low–so it was loud enough for me in a completely silent house. I never had to wait too long before Champagne Supernova would finally come on and I could go to sleep! I just loved all the random imagery and explosion of colors. I still enjoy the song on a regular rotation.

Well, it really was only a matter of time before I did a little Lifehouse-pimping via my little music meme here. Come on, you knew it was coming! Bear with me here, I know there are a lot here, but if you know me, you know Lifehouse is a huge part of my life and well, I’m doing good to be able to narrow it down to these 7!! These are really important memories to me =) [Lyrics may not be 100% accurate since I’m counting on an external site for those]
Hanging by a Moment
Of course this is where it all began. Well, technically I had an older song from before they were Lifehouse, but that’s a long story This was still in the era of taping songs off the radio and I’m always reminded of my friend Jeffrey and I bonding over HBAM and requesting it on 95.7 and 99.5 incessantly, and consequently, I remember the great friendship we had then. Smiles all around. To this day, I absolutely adore the song. You’d think I’d be at least a little sick of it, but I always listen when it comes on the radio and I never skip it on my iPod. It’s essential to my happiness.
Somewhere in Between
In my list of all-time Lifehouse favorites. Somewhere in Between has amazing lyrics that effectively sum up my teen years, and more specifically, my relationship with my, at the time, best male friend. He was a year younger than me and hopelessly in love with me. There were always feelings on both ends, but we both understood that it just wouldn’t work for us. Of course, that didn’t prevent any angsty, not-so-platonic cuddle sessions. We dubbed this ‘our song’ It just fit too well.
Everything
Still my absolute favorite song–Lifehouse or otherwise. I remember visits with my then best friend of 10 years (she had moved away in our 7th grade year so long summer visits were all we had), she took a liking to the song as well and we’d lie at night, listening to it on repeat and just talking till we fell asleep. She’s actually the one who took me to my first Lifehouse concert in the summer of 2003. We eventually drifted apart significantly due to her strong religious beliefs and my lack thereof. Aside from snippets of these memories invading, I’m always at peace when I listen to Everything. It’s just so serene, I get lost in it.
Take Me Away
Really, this just reminds me of High School in general–mostly the drives to school every morning where I remember blasting this album and often being spotted singing at the top of my lungs while pulling into my parking space. Take Me Away was the favorite on the album Stanley Climbfall and still gets regular play, of course.
Come Back Down
Well, being as this is a song all about someone leaving you and hoping they find what they’re looking for and return to you, it was all too appropriate that it came along at a time that I was swimming in ex boyfriends. My most recent and two complete blasts from the past were all playing major parts in the life and mind of this confused girl. Ben and I had just officially ended our almost 3 years together, but there were still unresolved things. Chris and I were just getting back in touch and entertaining fanciful ideas of possibilities–he actually brought up this song, saying it made him think of me, and then there was Travis, the Achilles heel of ex boyfriends, who was pretty much toying with me because he was bored. Anyway, while it was a hectic time, I don’t really look back on it in anything other than amusement. It’s nice to have that kind of drama pretty much behind me.
Who We Are
Really, this is just a song from the last album that made me proud of the boys and their ability to rock our faces off and also sort of feels to me like a unifying anthem for us, the fans, or as we endearingly call ourselves, Lifehos These are the memories I’m still making now with Lifeho roadtrips, even though I have to stick to the shorter ones. I’ll be reunited with my favorite Lifeho next week to make some more crazy memories =)
From Where You Are
From Where You Are is a song Jason was approached to write. Of course, he was hesitant as he’s just not into the commercial thing, but after seeing the ad for Allstate’s safe teen driving campaign, he was immediately inspired, drawing upon the memory of a friend who was killed in a car accident during his teen years. Of course, this came so quickly after Pete’s death last year, so it’s a constant, tearful reminder of Pete and our time together. On top of that, it’s an incredibly beautiful song.

This week’s song is from Aerosmith. “I Don’t Wanna Miss a Thing” always reminds me of my 7th grade year in school. It ranks as probably my favorite year of school. The grades were separated into “clusters” and I was in the cluster with the best teachers, and all my best friends. I had homeroom with everyone I loved to surround myself with! And my favorite teacher–Mr. Douglas. He treated us like adults, and we all loved him for it. Whenever an assembly or other event would be set to interrupt our day, Mr. D would often convince the other teachers to keep us all in homeroom all day instead of changing classes. One of those days we sat in and watched movies all day, lounging on the floor. Armageddon was among them, thus “I Don’t Wanna Miss a Thing” taking me back to that time of my life.
I’ve really enjoyed doing Remember Wednesday so far. Whether I’m going it alone, or you guys are joining in, I’m enjoying my little trips down memory lane. I’d like to thank Joana, Kat, Dyane, Charity, & Kristi for playing along in my first month. I hope you guys enjoyed it!

Ohhhhh school dances! These first two gems were played at pretty much every dance I can ever remember going to. And the last one, well I just remember two of my most memorable dances were to this song the year it came out. How romantic….for 12-13 year old me

This week is all about first love Appropriate since I had a dream about him two nights ago….unhappy dream…erm, he had died, lol–My bad–I don’t control my dreams!
My first love lived an hour away. He worked and took classes in town, which is how we met and how we generally spent time together.
One thing from our relationship that I always think of that just really fills my heart is the fact that he was always more than willing to spend 4 hours of his day driving to pick me up in Douglas, take me home with him to hang out and spend a few hours, then take me back home—I don’t remember him ever complaining.
It was first love–need/want to be around you 24 hours a day kind of love, so it’s fitting that our song was about being too far apart. So I give you Evan and Jaron’s, “The Distance”

Of course, that made George Strait’s “Run” come in a close second as ‘our song.’ To this day, when I listen to the song, Dallas gets replaced with Douglas….Can’t help it.
