Heroes 2X07 Nov 6th

All television episode posts are spoilery. Please do not read if you haven’t yet seen the episode, and intend to.

Well first, props to Kristi for finding this article from creator Tim Kring. He basically apologizes for the way this season has gone so far, and admits to the mistakes they’ve made. I have to agree with everything he said, except I really like the Claire/West storyline, but I guess I have to admit it doesn’t really flow with the show.

I squeed a little when they were making out on the couch, sharing headphones! I wanna do that!

I can’t believe West found out who Claire’s father is so soon. I thought for sure that’d be a little longer.

I think it’s awesome that Matt has gotten a little better understanding of his powers and what he can do with them.

BFsurprise–the virus is a different strain–not one that can be cured with Suresh’s blood. Who saw that coming? Pft.

They really should’ve introduced the big idea earlier on. It definitely looks interesting.

I’m so glad Hiro has come back to this century. I was getting SO sick of that storyline.

ADAM! I’m really excited about Adam! I had no inkling of what was coming, but I was so happy to see him! I wasn’t ready to be rid of him. He’s fun to listen to! And of course it all makes so much sense. I’m proud of them pulling that one out.

I wonder what kind of other powers Adam has. I mean obviously he could make it to the future just by not dying all this time, but it seems obvious to me that other powers are present. I’m curious to see what they are. Maybe he has ALL the powers–maybe he’s the hero all other heroes have derived power from? Maybe not…I really don’t know!!

Flora2000

Jeffrey and I have been friends since high school. In fact, for the longest, we were best friends, but things got in the way–as ‘things’ often do.

We met at a local hangout, where Jeffrey approached me, and was actually the first person ever to hit on me instead of Kristin. I’ll never forget that. See, Kristin was my big-busted best friend. We were alike in every way, except for our approach to guys. They often pursued her, becoming friends with me in the process, and soon ran screaming from her. They always tried to spark something with me afterwards, but the rules of friendship prohibited me from ever exploring any possibilities.

Anyway, I digress–eventually Kristin came to lead Jeffrey on in a very rough way, and Jeffrey and I were so close, it was just the last straw for me. I ended my friendship with Kristin over the way she treated Jeffrey. That’s how strong mine and Jeffrey’s friendship was. I was more than willing to leave my best friend of so many years because of the way she treated him. After all, he’s my Ducky.

Years and miles have pushed us in different directions, and kept us from being able to keep in touch, but Jeffrey and I are back in communication. I don’t know if we’ll ever be back where we were, but I’ll always treasure the friendship we once had.

A common occurrence between us was to leave each other flowers. It was something we always talked about–how some guys appreciate flowers as well. Obviously not huge bouquets, but just a rose here or there to show you care.

Jeffrey’s stationed out of the country now. He was just married last year and is expecting his first child. I haven’t seen him in almost three years, and his current situation doesn’t allow for much constant communication.

I’d love to properly congratulate him on all the big events he’s recently experienced, and give him a little reminder of that friendship we once shared. I’ve actually just found out that with Flora2000, I can send flowers to 150 different countries with ease. Friday is payday and I think I might look into that if I can get in touch with Jeffrey to get some contact info for him and Jackie.

I can’t wait for Jeffrey to be back in Georgia. I’m looking forward to the possibility of re-sparking the bond we once shared.

Kraft Select Singles

Comments Off

I love all things cheese. Well, except, oddly enough, most cheesecakes. I’m really picky about my cheese as well, and generally lean towards the Kraft brand when it comes to my own cooking. There’s no quicker way to get on my bad restaurant list than to mess up macaroni and cheese. I think there are currently 3 restaurants in town I won’t dine at because they use really crappy cheese. Bleh!

I’ve found a new love for my sandwiches!

Kraft Select singles are absolutely yummy! I picked up a package one evening when they were out of my normal singles and I was absolutely satisfied! They have a much richer taste than normal singles.

Shortly before trying these, my neighbor, Josh, was talking about how he’s not a big fan of processed cheese (such as Kraft singles) so after I had thoroughly tried out this new cheese, I took him a slice to try. He’s not wasting anymore extra money on fresh, deli cheese. I’ve made him a believer in Kraft as well!

I haven’t tried it with bologna, or any really basic flavors in the sandwich meat department, but I have a feeling it’d still be good, but maybe a lesser cheese would be preferable in those cases. I find that stronger cheeses like this one sometimes overpower the lesser flavors in sandwich meats. This is incredible with smoked honey turkey though! And it’s perfect with Ritz crackers–this has become my ’snack’ lately. I’m trying really hard to stay away from normal junk food.

The Mist

Last night we got to talking about a new movie coming out soon with a plot that reminded me of one of my favorite Stephen King stories, Autopsy Room 4–found in Everything’s Eventual. The gist of the story is that a man finds himself paralyzed in an autopsy room, with the coroners preparing to perform an autopsy—on him! He’s fully aware of everything going on, but he can’t do anything about it.

It’s a short story, but it had me so on edge! Even after I was finished, I couldn’t get over the idea of being in a situation like that. How terrifying! The suspense was absolutely killer. Was he really just able to move his toe? Did anyone notice? Will he be able to move anything significant in time? Ahh!

The Mist by Stephen King is next on my list of must see’s. A group of townspeople find themselves trapped inside a local grocery store by an unrelenting mist. They soon discover that there’s something in the mist. But what’s more frightful, what’s in the mist, or what these ordinary people turn into in the face of otherworldly danger?

Be sure to check out the trailer yourself and think about how scary the unknown can be. Be even more sure to go out and see in on November 21st. I’m not expecting King to let us down.

Bengal Flea Spray

flea.jpg

Back in the house, Willow ended up with a flea problem. The house was prone to bugs, with the new construction surrounding us and Willow got out a handful of times.

The house was covered–especially my bed. After using the miracle pill from the vet, I had to find something to use on the house so she wouldn’t just get fleas all over again.

I found this Bengal flea spray in Wal Mart and after reading the specs, I thought I’d give it a try.

FULL SEASON FLEA KILLER PLUS II

  • Kills three stages of the flea (egg, larvae, adult)
  • NYLAR - Breaks life cycle of the flea
  • Controls reinfestation for 210 days

Sounder good to me! I sprayed half a can around the doors, randomly over most of the carpet, and after realizing it didn’t have any weird odor–my bed! I had two cans, but I never had to use it again. That half a can did it for the entire house and we never saw a single flea again.

I’m definitely a Bengal advocate now and I’ve since recommended this to three other people who’ve all reported back the same amazing results as I encountered!

Biotene toothpaste

I think I’ve made it abundantly clear that, though in the past I’ve not cared much for ice cream, as of late, I’m all over it! In fact, Josh and I swung by Marble Slab and I finally perfected my Rocky Road! Chocolate ice cream, marshmallows, chocolate sprinkles, and crumbled graham crackers! Oh! In a waffle bowl, of course ;) It was perfection.

My ice cream enjoyment is always rather bittersweet though. I have some overly sensitive choppers that just can’t be stopped! I’ve tried sensitive toothpaste before, but I’ve never had a whole lot of success.

biotene-004.jpg

Today in the mail, I received a sample of Biotene to try out. Check out some of the specs:

  • Maximum sensitivity relief & dry mouth protection.
  • Helps prevent canker sores & irritation with a gentle low foaming formula.
  • Includes xylitol to help prevent cavities.
  • Natural enzymes defend against bacteria, plaque, and gingivitis.
  • Great taste for fresh, clean breath!

I’ve already tried it out and so far, I’m liking it. It actually does have a pretty great taste. It tastes like the little square gum you get from the little quarter machines. I’m really pleased with how clean my teeth feel as well, so I’ll definitely be testing this one out as far as I can.

I haven’t had an opportunity to see if it really helps my sensitivity–we’re out of ice so I can’t even test it with ice water. I’d imagine it’ll take more than one use to really see the effects anyway.

I’d been given a bit of heads up that I might be checking this out, and I was excited. I’m even more excited to read the claim that it helps prevent canker sores. I’m not sure why, but I seem very prone to those ever since my days in braces!

I’m curious to read up a little more on this Xylitol–which they say helps prevent cavities. Without dental insurance right now, I could use all the help I can get in that department.

I’ll update when I feel I’ve given it a thorough enough try to determine whether or not it helps in the sensitivity department, but for now I’m giving it a preemptive A.

Cover Contest

Last night marked the close for submissions to my Cover Contest and after listening to all the songs, I picked my favorites and distributed points. I assigned all entrants a number, and wrote down that number once for every entry. I cut ‘em all out [tons of tiny pieces of paper…] and threw ‘em in a hat to draw out my winner.

Number 4– Kat from My Single Mom Life and Twisted Psycho is the winner! Kat, you’ll be receiving an email from me shortly to work out how you want your prize.

I’d like to thank every one who participated! I’ve gotten a lot of great songs out of this. A special thanks to Christine and Allan who sent me a few of my favorites from this batch.

Keep an eye out guys, I’ve decided this won’t be my last music contest. Soon I’ll be holding one to expand my collection of acoustic songs ;)

Thanks again to everyone who participated!
